2021 IRS Tax letters? What's needed...

Just me again... this year there are 2 new possible "needs" to help prepare your 2021 tax returns accurately. Letters you should have received from the IRS (assuming you qualified).

IRS Letter #6475. This letter documents the amount of 3rd Economic Impact Payment you received in early 2021. If you qualified, that should have been $1400 for each spouse & each dependent. If you don't have that letter, you can look online, if you are not certain of the amount you received.

IRS letter #6419. This letter documents the amount of Advanced Child Tax Credit you have received in 2021. If you qualify (income & kids!), this letter is very important in order to reconcile what credit is still due to you when we file the 2021 tax returns.

Both these letters were just mailed out by the IRS in January, 2022.

Here's an IRS link discussing both of the letters. You can sign into your IRS account to see specifics & whether you received either of the above. IRS sending information letters to recipients of advance child tax credit payments and third Economic Impact Payments | Internal Revenue Service
