Hello!
I thought it might be useful to remind you how to get me your 2022 income tax data this year... it could save you some time and effort!
All methods. please wait until your info & documents are 100% complete! If you give me data in batches, it can increase fees & time to prepare. I hope that makes sense...
All methods. If sending electronic documents - multi-page PDFs are preferred, rather than dozens of phone pics (a few is fine!). If you don’t have a scanner, many office supply stores can help you scan & email or fax! (see #6/7)
Change is hard. You can always get me the completed tax organizer & documents the old fashioned way too - sending me all of your tax documents on "paper" is no problem!
Please note - these 8 methods are not in order of preference. Please do what works best for you. I'm just here to help!
1. Intuit Link - using this online portal, you can upload documents on your computer or even take pictures of them on your phone. I would send you an email indicating a private message... you would simply respond, sign in using an Intuit account with your email + the password we've used or you can choose a new one. With this method, you can also complete the tax organizer questions & see a checklist of prior year documents. It's integrated with my professional tax software. Here's a link to see a tutorial... 2. My website online portal - see the link at the bottom of my homepage at www.garlandtaylor.com Using this method, you can send secure messages or documents. www.garlandtaylor.com
Or... the usual ways!
3. Mail directly (copies only) to my PO Box 33 in Sherwood OR 97140. Other than #1/2 above - this is the fastest way to get documents to me. I suggest a secure method - i use USPS priority mail with tracking to send finished returns to you & the US Post Office has never lost a package yet, in many years. That's ~$9 for a big 9x12" envelope. No weight limit - it's just gotta fit in the envelope...
4. Of course, you can still drop off your package at my front desk in Sellwood (3rd floor at 205 SE Spokane St 97202). That may take a few days & up to a week to get to me. Or you can also mail it there. I'm not doing any client interviews (oops, see #8), to keep everyone safe again this year! I hope to see you in person next year. We can also do a Zoom meeting if you really need to see my smiling face, ha!
5. You can also use a web service like Dropbox, Box, Onedrive, Google Drive, etc...
6. I do still have a FAX number (hey, it goes to my iPhone!) at 503-287-6370. You can fax documents there. Office supply stores can help scan & fax these for you.
7. You can email me documents too - but if you do that, I suggest you encrypt the files so no one can see any private tax paperwork. Or at least cover ssn's, etc. I use a pdf encryption software to get you tax forms to sign (8879). We can use the "usual" password or any one that you choose. If you use another password, call it in.
8. Offered new this year… if you really need to see me in person. I am scheduling a few in-office days for short client visits - just ask!
That's it!
The Intuit portal needs an email "invite". The www.garlandtaylor.com portal just needs me to enter a password & then you can easily send messages/documents... so please just ask, if you want me to set those up... thanks much! Garland
